A quick excursus trought Laurus bass luthiery' story

Passion for music that grew throught years

1967: the 12 years old Pierluigi Cazzola (to the left) bass player of the band “I Neonati”. The band made headlines because of the young age of the members (on average 10 years old). The band was rewarded in two local festivals.
In the picture you can see Giorgio Ebalginelli (drums) and Alberto Pilotto (guitar) that later became a renowned jazz player.

1984: Pierluigi Cazzola (to the left) and his friend Flavio Busato (right-hand man during the first year of activity) showing one of their first masterpieces, the Red Canzian Special model.

1984: Special model built for Red Canzian (Pooh). Ten maple slices arranged in a radial pattern alternated with amaranth wood inserts. The neck was built in fourteen sections alternating maple, amaranth and ebony. The body is entirely hand carved. Unique piece.

1985: Laurus first appearance at SIM exhibition. The bass with the fan-shaped body was awarded as one of the best instruments.

1985: The first adv. flyer showing three models of that era: the Carving, the Artist and the Stylish.

1985: Patrick Djivas (PFM) plays a Laurus Stylish model at SIM exhibition.

1985: Pierluigi Cazzola supporting the PFM sound technician during a band’ show.

1985: Patrick Djivas (PFM) became Laurus endorser playing a Stylish model.

1986: Patrick Djivas (PFM) in studio with his Laurus Stylish.

1986: SIM exhibition in Milan. Laurus stand painted in yellow and red, the colours of the city of Schio.

1987: Models Artist SC and Stylish proposed in 32.5″ scale. They was presented at Frankfurt Music Messe, as guest of the german Crace, handmade amplifier manufacturer

1987: Stefano Cerri during a concert.

1987: Enzo Lo Greco plays Laurus

1987: Cico Cicognani plays with Scott Handerson with a six string fretless Laurus Carving model. Cico boast a endless curriculum of international collaborations.

Quasar SC prototype

1988: Quasar SC prototype (32.5″ scale) with fan-shaped body, like the Artist model. Commutable double EQ. Unique piece, then Quasar SL born.

1988: Attilio Zanchi with a six strings Laurus Quasar SC.

The Slaps

1985-1995: The Slaps, funky-fusion band in which Pierluigi Cazzola played as bassist. Vittorio Canova (keyboards), Giorgio Ebalginelli (drums), Marco Ronzani (saxophone) and Daniela Marchesini (voice).

The Slaps in concert. In that period the band had twelve elements. Pieluigi used a five strings fretless Laurus Quasar SL and a fretted four strings basses.
